ARCHITECTURAL TECHNOLOGY AND SURVEY AND
REPRESENTATION OF ARCHITECTURE AND ENVIRONMENT |
Coordinator:
prof. Mario Losasso
The Course investigates and develops a large variety
of themes concerning the transformations of the
built environment and establishes relations between
architectural design and construction processes.
It is based on two different curricula:
1) Product and process innovation in design and
transformation of the built environment
2) Processes and technologies for the built
environment sustainability.
The main topics investigated in the Doctoral Course
are:
1) Methodology and design strategies for improving
the human environment
2) Complexity and innovation in building process
3) Principles of contemporary sustainable building
4) Production and buildability of architectural
design
5 Environmental quality controls
6) Enhancement of raw building materials and
renewable sources of energy
7) Control of environmental behaviour of living
spaces
8) Control of energy leaks and Life Cycle Thinking
The Course relies on two Departments with their
know-how, libraries, laboratories; the direction is
at the Department of Urban Design and Planning. The
College is composed by the coordinator prof. Augusto
Vitale and twelve Professors.
The Course is part of the Doctoral School of
Architecture, composed by ten Doctorates. As a part
of the overall formation given by the School, in its
first year the Course gives basic lectures and
seminars on different topics, such as Introduction
to technology research, Technology for environmental
sustainability, Innovation for environmental
transformation.
In the following two years the Course exploits
specialization seminars, research activity at
research institutions in or outside Italy
The aim of the Course is therefore the shaping of
professional and research skills fit to understand,
control and manage strategies for a sustainable
development of the human environment.
